BFK can help you by assisting you in planning your research tools, designing your hardware for easy every day manipulation and creating analytic tool with user friendly graphic interface. We accompanied you from proposal support, cost-efficient tailored-made solution to lab support.

Original research or investigations into new paradigms often require the development of novel technologies. However, such technologies either have not been created or are too expensive for a single lab to develop. Moreover, custom-made apparatus or software can be seen as solution but necessitate access to equipped workshop, hiring high-skilled specialist or sacrificing a research program for R&D.

BFK members have more than 15 years of experience in neuroscience and engineering fields including pneumatic circuits, odour delivery system, micro-controller assembly, behavioural set-up as well as software tools for image and data acquisition and analysis, animal tracking, growth cone, electrophysiological data and calcium analysis.

 

What we do for you

NOVEL REsearch & development consulting

Our mission is to do the R&D for you, so you only hired people to do the science and the research. Together, we establish strategy to investigate your biological questions, define endpoints and identify the necessary hardware and software. We collectively develop unique concepts and solution tailored for your research.


TECHNICAL support

BFK offers support of statement, advises on lab equipment and a wide range of technical topic, from behavioural room design to data handling.

software and GUI interfaces

We develop custom-made analytical tools in Matlab and Python with intuitive User-Friendly Graphic Interface. We define together the endpoints, the method, the final graphical representation of the key metrics you are after. Our skills tackle:

  • image segmentation, analysis and visualisation of animal behavioural experiments (Zebrafish, Drosophila).

  • image segmentation and visualisation of 3D fluorescence/GCamp imaging studies.

  • quantification of large-scale electrophysiological data (single unit recordings) in combination with various behavioural, tracking parameters.

HArdware design and production

Your biological questions define our R&D. Based on our discussions, our hardware department will develop new concept and together we amend it. There could be as many iterations as needed. Our capacities encompass the R&D of full systems, sub modules and integration of commercial equipment and custom modules. Here are some examples:
